The protagonist, Raja Hariom Singh (Amitabh Bachchan), a young man from a very poor family, falls from his horse while being chased by two armed robbers. Since he was not wearing any armor or defending himself with any weapon, he managed to escape from the robbers only with minor injuries. The robbers were however, very close to him, so he took the only choice that he could take. He ran towards his house and went into the safe room that had a bed and a small window. The police was then alerted to the fact that there was a robber breaking into houses in the village. The police did not come immediately, but did send someone after him; this person turned out to be an officer named Sub Inspector (Sanjeev Kumar). The entire story takes place in Raja Hariom Singh's village, where his father is an unimportant local chieftain who doesn't care about anyone other than himself. He heads to his village in the hopes of seeing and sleeping with his young mistress. He is in town for a few days and when he returns to his village, he finds that his father has died. There is no inheritance so when Hariom Singh finds out that he doesn't have any power or wealth, he sets off on a journey towards Hyderabad in order to gain money and power. He travels all the way there and when he arrives, he goes to see a well established lawyer named Jeet Singh (Shreeram Lagoo), who helps him take over the throne from his deceased father's brother(Rajiv) who never cared about their family or home. cfa1e77820
